Sometimes it feels like we are out of control of our lives.
Bills are due, there is no money for the extras, things keep
happening and we feel like we will never be in control.
All of that is just life, and you don't have to live it that
way. Understand that you DO have control. Only you can
improve your lot in life. Broke? Find a way to make extra
money to pay those bills, to buy those extras. When things
happen, deal with them. then move on. Realize that you ARE
in control.
You don't need excuses:)
I was like this last year. I felt so out of control of my
life. I listened to a recording of a seminar given by Dani
Johnson www.danijohnson.com
has the recording, sign up for free, and listen to it
yourself!!) regarding excuses that people make in their live
and call them reasons. It changed my whole outlook on life.
I realized that I was FULL of excuses!! Saying things like
"I don't have time." or "I can't afford it" are excuses, not
reasons. Don't have time? Make time. Get up earlier. Go to
bed later. Stop watching TV for hours on end. How many times
can you watch the same Law and Order rerun anyway?? Learn to
prioritize. Really can't afford it? How many times did you
eat out last week? Stop at Starbucks for a $5 dollar cup of
coffee that would have only cost you pennies if you made it
at home? Went through Walmart and filled your cart full of
stuff you don't need because it was Buy One Get One? Stopped
at the gas station and went in and paid a $1.29 for a 20oz
coke when you could have bought a 2 liter for the same price
or less?
I saw another presentation given by Richard Paul Evans, a
well known best selling author (http://www.winninginthemargins.com/)
(sonyareads is the password), and it gave me something to
focus on. It's about how to win in the margins, how to look
outside the box to generate income to help me take control
of my financial future. It made me realize that I should not
just be depending on my job to make an income, to pay my
bills. This is something deep down inside I knew, I just
didn't acknowledge it. You know it too. What happens when
your job gets downsized? Or you get hurt and can't work? If
you are depending on that as your sole source of income,
what happens next?
I finally did it. I took control of my life. I stopped
making excuses, or at least I'm trying to. Almost everything
that happens in life is a result of choices that we made.
For the things that happen to us that AREN'T the result of a
choice we made, how we deal with them is still our choice.
For once, I am breathing easier, because I know that I can
change my future, I'm not sitting in despair thinking things
are never going to get easier. I'm going to MAKE Them
easier. You can too!!
